Marit Bergman "It Would Have Been Good"
Marit Bergman is a household name throughout Sweden. This is her introduction to the USA. Last week she won Sweden's national radio [P3 Gold Award] for the "Best Female Artist." Next week she's nominated in two categories at the Swedish Grammy Awards (Best Female Artist and Best Debut Artist). She's won the heart of Sweden and the rest of the world won't stand a chance... Lyrically, one hears a combination of cynical fiestiness and a bittersweet optimism that makes Marit unique. Musically, there's the pop sensibilities only gained by someone with an eclectic taste in music and a voice that pulls you in and won't let you leave. These songs are a selection from her self-released album in Sweden. Looking at her on the stage, on the barstool or wherever, you could easily think that she's in total control of her surroundings, of her life, but that's not the case, and that's not the point either. The point is; that if you do things the way she does them, everything will work out just fine in the end. If you love what you do as much as Marit does, control and order tend to get in the way. And that love always shines through, you'll see it when she's talking, singing, playing the guitar or just jumping up and down in a club. It's that love that makes her special, something to care about.
